Winter Information

Moore Township The Moore Township Public Works Department has a goal of maintaining safe and passable roads during winter events. The 911 control center will dispatch the Public Works Department when snow or ice becomes a problem on the roadways.

Snow emergencies are enacted by our Police Chief and relayed to the Public Works Director. Ordinance 2019-2 prohibits vehicles from being parked in the right-of-way during snow emergencies until the snow and/or ice has been plowed or removed. The Department tries to plow and cinder as many roads as possible before residents leave for, or return from, work. Please note, main roads are always given a higher priority.

Drivers do their best to not damage any mailboxes. Unfortunately, they have no control of where the plow unloads the snow and, occasionally, the weight of the snow knocks over mailboxes. Resolution 2002-5 established the procedures for mailboxes along township roadways damaged during snow removal. If a mailbox is hit by a plow or truck and is off the right-of-way, the Township will be responsible for replacing the mailbox. If it is within the right-of-way, the property owner is responsible for the repair. The township will not repair or replace mailboxes knocked over by plowed snow.
